The Yesan County Agricultural Technology Center in South Chungcheong Province said it is carrying out final cultivation and growth management for the chrysanthemum exhibition at the '10th Yesan Jangteo Samguk Festival,' to be held from October 22 to 25 at Yesan Market and the area in front of the Yesan Cinema building. The chrysanthemum exhibition is one of the festival's main events.
The center is tending about 20,000 chrysanthemums, including cascade chrysanthemums (hyeonaeguk), multi-bloom large chrysanthemums (darvundaejak), bonsai chrysanthemums (bunjaeguk), standard upright chrysanthemums (ipguk) and flower-bed chrysanthemums (hwadanguk). The center plans to arrange the chrysanthemums together with various sculptures and photo zones.
This year, to mark the festival's 10th anniversary, 7 new sculptures, including a cake sculpture and gift boxes, will be installed. Along the path beside the stream, a tunnel path made of square LED (light-emitting diode) gates and an overhead-style lantern path will also be created.
The Chrysanthemum Bonsai Research Society is also taking part in the exhibition. Since the beginning of the year, the society has been shaping the bonsai chrysanthemums and transplanting them, and it plans to display about 200 chrysanthemum bonsai works during the festival.
According to the center, blackout facilities and lighting facilities were used to control the flowering time so that the chrysanthemums bloom in time for the festival. The center said it will continue management work, including pest and disease control and training the plants, to complete preparations for the exhibition.
