Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province said it will set up a promotion hall run on dedicated coins during the Hongseong Global Barbecue Festival, held from October 29 to November 1, 2026. The festival is hosted by the Hongju Culture and Tourism Foundation.
The promotion hall coins are given to visitors who meet the participation conditions. The conditions include visiting major tourist sites in Hongseong, taking part in social media promotion activities and spending 30,000 won or more within the festival grounds. Visitors can use the coins they receive on the claw machines and capsule machines installed in the promotion hall's arcade.
The prizes are themed on Hongseong's local specialties and tourist sites. They include plush dolls of "Hongberry," a character based on Hongseong strawberries, and "Maru and Roro," characters based on Hongsan garlic, along with tourist site magnets, air fresheners, Gwangcheon gim (seasoned laver) and limited-edition merchandise.
The county plans to use the promotion hall to promote both Visit Chungnam Year and the festival, and to encourage festival visitors to also seek out nearby tourist sites and local food. The county expects this to increase overnight tourism and local spending.
Hongseong County Governor Park Jeong-ju is scheduled to attend a festival preparation briefing at 2:30 p.m. on October 26 in a conference room at Hongseong County Office. Inquiries about the festival can be made at 041-634-8705.
