The 65th Tamna Cultural Festival opened on October 17 and is being held in Jeju until October 21. Events run daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Tamna Cultural Festival carries on the history and cultural spirit built by the people of Jeju's past. This year it focuses on reinterpreting the cultural heritage and community spirit left by those predecessors from a present-day perspective. Cultural and sports events have been prepared together in connection with the sports festival, and organisers have also set out the aim of expanding it into a festival in which residents of the province take part directly.

The programme is divided into 4 madang (sections). Ppuri Madang begins with the pre-event 'Tamna-reul Tamhada!' (Coveting Tamna!), followed by the Tamna Gaebyeok Sinwije ritual and the opening and closing ceremonies 'Tamna, Barami Muneul Yeolda' (Tamna, the Wind Opens the Door), with the Tamna Night Theater running in the evenings. Nori Madang hosts the Tamna Pungmulje (traditional percussion festival) and the Tamna Folk Arts Festival, and the sports festival-linked programmes Tamna Sports Arena and Tamnaneun Supporters are also scheduled in this section.

Eoul Madang features Munhwa Ieum Madang, the Tamna Intangible Heritage Festival, Tamnadeuri and Neon Tamnarok: Bichui Girokjadeul (Recorders of Light). Kkumbit Madang offers the Wareung Wareung Festival, Dynamic Tamna, the Tamna Mendorong Market and Tamna Yuram. Enquiries about the event can be made at 064-753-3287.
