Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province said it will hold the '8th Yeoncheon Chrysanthemum Festival' for 10 days from October 16 to 25 around the Jeongok-ri Prehistoric Site in Yeoncheon. The festival is hosted by Yeoncheon County and organized by the Yeoncheon County Agricultural Technology Center, and this year's theme is 'The Breath of Goguryeo Blooms in Chrysanthemums.'

Chrysanthemums in a variety of colors and large flower sculptures will be displayed at the festival grounds, along with a signature photo zone themed on a Goguryeo fortress and exhibition and hands-on spaces on the theme of Goguryeo. The county said it is linking the historical and cultural space of the Jeongok-ri Prehistoric Site with the chrysanthemum scenery so that visitors can learn about Yeoncheon's history and culture while viewing the flowers.

The official opening ceremony will be held on October 17 and will feature traditional tightrope walking (jultagi) and a pungmul (traditional percussion) troupe performance. During the festival, programs will include Goguryeo costume try-ons, archery, a mini train for children and families, instant photos and photo services, and interactive experience zones for visitors.

A local agricultural specialty market will sell eco-friendly produce and processed goods made directly by local farmers. A food area, food trucks and a dog playground will also operate, and the county plans to use these to promote Yeoncheon's agricultural specialties and help farms expand their sales channels.

Admission is 5,000 won for general individuals, 4,000 won for general groups, 3,000 won for individuals eligible for discounts and 2,000 won for discount-eligible groups. Paying visitors receive, at the ticket office, Yeoncheon Love Gift Certificates (Yeoncheon Sarang Sangpumgwon) equal to the admission fee, which can be used at the agricultural specialty market on the festival grounds and at participating businesses within Yeoncheon County.
