The Yangyang Songi Yeoneo Festival (songi: pine mushroom; yeoneo: salmon) will be held for 3 days, from October 16 to 18, in Yangyang, Gangwon. The festival grounds will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and inquiries can be made at 033-671-3803.

The festival centres on 2 local resources: songi, which grows in the autumn mountains, and salmon, which return to Namdaecheon Stream. It is designed so that visitors not only eat the 2 resources but also learn about their ecology through hands-on activities.

The main programs are the "Songi Treasure Hunt," in which participants search for songi themselves in a pine forest, and "Bare-Hand Salmon Catching," in which they catch salmon with their bare hands in Namdaecheon Stream. Also on offer are the "Yangyang Salmon Eco Tour," in which participants learn about the salmon's return journey from a docent; cooking shows in which chefs prepare songi and salmon dishes on site; and the "Yangyang Songi Infused Liquor Making Experience," in which participants make their own infused liquor.

Participatory events will also run. These include the "Songi·Salmon Expedition & Salmon Roe Gacha Zone," where visitors complete missions to receive gifts, and a stamp tour in which visitors collect 6 stamps to complete a poster. Custom T-shirt making is offered free of charge to visitors who bring a receipt. The "Snack Playground with Songsongi and Yeondongi" will also open for children.

For local products, a local pop-up store and a food and specialty products market will operate, and the "Songi Dosa Auction Show" will be held, with bidding starting at 1,000 won. The rest area will be set up as a space to enjoy local dining from "Slow Table in Yangyang" (Yangyang-eun Cheoncheonhi Siktak), under Art Shade canopies by day and Light Tank lighting by night.

Performances begin with the opening ceremony celebration show. The "Songi-ga Nado Rock, Yeoneo-do Odo Rock Concert" (a pun meaning "so the songi grow and the salmon return") follows, and the program wraps up with the closing ceremony and an after-party on the final day.
